C.R.C.: You covered “How Soon Is Now?” on Quicksand Slip. Do you prefer Morrissey’s solo stuff or The Smiths?
Walter: It’s hard to say. The early Morrissey stuff I was like ‘into’ it. Not really the first record, but the second record I got into, which I think is called “Kill Uncle.” “Your Arsenal” was the going to be the next one. In between those two records I was really into Morrissey, so I have a connection to those tunes. I got into a couple of his other records. I really liked a lot of his solo stuff, but I also really liked the Smiths stuff. The later Smith’s stuff I didn’t get into as much as like “Hatful Of Hollow” stuff. “The Queen Is Dead” is really good. The new Morrissey album I didn’t get into it. I haven’t really got into Morrissey since…especially now, people are always like talking about Morrissey. With this new record he’s just so in your face and everyone’s really into him, and it’s just like ‘whatever.’ It’s no longer novel to say that you’re into Morrissey, and I think it was cool at a time. He was sort of like this underdog or martyred victim type of guy that people could relate to. I still think he’s a genius, like his lyrics are fucking awesome. I don’t know…
(tárgyi tévedés a kérdező részéről, a How Soon Is Now-t a Manic Compressionn lemezhez dolgozták fel, de csak a bakelit változatra került rá) |
